Ooops

Phil Mickelson ended "The Match" with Tiger Woods by knocking in a $9 million 5-foot birdie on the 22nd hole, a contrived 93-yard par 3 that included a tee box set on the practice green so lights could be set up for the players.

The birdie followed three playoff pars from both legends (two on the 93-yard hole) after the pair was all square following 18 regulation holes at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.

No player ever led by more than 1 hole. Woods took his only lead when he birdied the 11th to tie and then birdied the 12th to go 1-up.

But Mickelson tied him with a birdie putt at the 14th then went ahead when Woods bogeyed the 15th.

The golf wasn't the issue, it was the streaming.

Via Variety

A technical snafu in the streaming function via Turner’s Bleacher Report sports website forced the company to drop the paywall and offer a free live stream to ensure that those who paid $20 for the event would be able to see it at the start time of 3:10 p.m. ET. “We experienced some technical issues on (Bleacher Report) Live that temporarily impacted user access to ‘The Match,’ ” Turner said in a statement. “We’ve taken a number of steps to resolve the matter, with our main priority being the delivery of content to those that have purchased the PPV event.”

Maybe streaming a PPV event was more than they could handle. I'm not sure why this couldn't have been on broadcast TV. It would have generated a big audience.

I hope they refund the people who actually paid. It's the right thing to do.
