Houston Astros ace, Justin Verlander, responded to the MLB’s pace of play rule changes.  In particular he has an issue with the limit of six mound visits to one pitcher per nine innings.

Verlander wasn’t a fan of tweaking the game at all, but thinks limiting the mound visits could lead to injury.

“If you’re going to make adjustments I personally don’t think limiting mound visits between a catcher and pitcher is the way to go.  If there’s a cross-up n signs those guys can get hurt.”

I’m with Verlander on this.  Taking away a couple of mound visits isn’t going have that much of an impact on the overall time of the game.

Games are still going to be pushing three hours.  They need to look for innovations in the fan experience, both on TV and at the ballpark.  Don’t screw with the game itself.
