The Houston Astros were swept over the weekend by the Texas Rangers.  It was the first time in the last 12 years that a team 20+ games under .500 swept a team 20+ games over .500 on the road.

The last team to be swept in that scenario was the 2006 Detroit Tigers, who were swept by an awful Kansas City Royals team.  Astros pitcher Justin Verlander was on both teams, a fact that he noticed and pointed out on Twitter.

When you are 20 games over .500 and coming off of a World Series win, it’s a little easier to poke fun at these kinds of facts.  That and he’s married to a supermodel.
