The Chicago White Sox have reportedly increased the offer to free agent Manny Machado. Back in the middle of January it was reported that he had a seven year, $175 million offer on the table.
It was much lower than the ten year, $300 million deal Machado was reportedly seeking. On Saturday a rumored $220 million offer from the Yankees made the rounds, although the reports were based on a rumor.
Now comes a claim from MLB Insider, Hector Gomez, that the White Sox have upped their original offer to eight years and $250 million.
The Manny Machado sweepstakes certainly appear to have heated up. There must be a lot of action taking place behind the scenes, or at least they want teams to believe there is.
The clock is ticking and a deal should be done in the next couple of weeks.
