The journey is the reward

NFL running back Alfred Morris carried 16 times for 111 yards and one touchdown while catching his only target for four yards in last Sunday's loss to the Rams.

Morris was a healthy scratch four of the last five games, but took advantage when Jeff Wilson exited the game with a shoulder injury.

The veteran running back was a popular waiver addition after Jerick McKinnon tore his ACL in August, but totaled only 317 rushing yards prior to Sunday's season finale.

Morris' disappointing season comes to an end with 111 rush attempts for 428 yards (3.9 YPC) and two touchdowns, with eight receptions for 73 yards in 12 games.

He did finish strong.

His wife, posted about the ups and downs of the NFL season.

And just like that, we wrap up NFL season #7. // Football is a weird thing. It’s such an experience... and sometimes it’s not the most pleasant. There is this ficade that’s easy to fall into. The ficade is that life looks as pretty as the pictures on Instagram. That’s not to say the NFL isn’t an amazing opportunity that we are blessed to experience. But the reality is this: the highs are really high and the lows are really low. Generally the highs are surrounded by a lot of people in your inbox and in the stands, and the lows have a beautiful way of highlighting who’s really in your corner. Those people in our corner on low days are what we call “for lifers.” Those people who still come to games when Fred might not be active & are more interested in seeing us than seeing the city we happen to be living in for that particular season. Thank you to all the people who made it to a game this year. The highs are nice, but without the lows I wouldn’t have the same husband I have today, nor would we so clearly know who our “for lifers” are. It’s always nice to share the ride with someone when things are good, but there’s nothing more beautiful than walking through tough seasons hand in hand knowing that no matter what, high or low, it’s us at the end of the day. Proud of you @thoroughbred_fred ❤️❤️❤️!!! Way to finish strong with a TD and 100+ yards! #teammorris #faithfulseasons #hallelujah

Morris at one time was a promising running back.

Check out these stats below:

  • In his first two seasons (2012-13), rushed for 2,888 yds., which ranked second in the NFL (RB Adrian Peterson - 3,363) over that time span.
  • As a rookie in 2012, rushed for 1,613 yds., which ranks 4th in NFL history for the most rushing yds. by a rookie in a single season. Also set the Redskins rookie records in atts. (335) and rushing TDs (13).

Of course any person in any facet of life will have their fair share ups and downs. A very interesting perspective of the season from a WAG.
