The impact golf players have on society is immense. How they handle themselves is critical to help how those view them as mentors. For years many people always look up to golf players due to their immense success on golf courses like the Vale do Lobo Ocean Golf Course. They have also helped in nurturing not only golf talents but players and professionals in different sports and fields, respectively.

Like other sports, golf players are making news headlines each week in 2019. Many of them are on the headlines because of either positive or negative controversies. In this article, I will inform you about the three most controversial golfers in 2019.

So, if you didn’t know about them, then be sure to understand why they have been controversial this year.

Rory Mario Trevor Sabbatini

Born in Durban, South Africa, on 2nd April 1976, Rory is a famous pro golf player. He started his golfing career at the University of Arizona and became a professional player in 1998. Rory has six professional PGA Tour wins in his career. Between 2007 to 2008, he was on the world top, ten golfers.

In 2019 Rory made the headlines because of changing his citizenship from being a South African to a Slovak national. The wife of Sabbatini is from Slovakia, and that might be the main reason why he changes his nationality. Others presume that Sabbatini did that for him to qualify for the 2020 Olympics that will take place in Tokyo.

Rory could not qualify for the Olympics because of his dismal performance and low ranking. He also has a US and UK citizenship. The cousin to his wife is the vice president of the Slovak golf association. One of the critical things people think that he will get automatic qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

It is not the first time Sabbatini was making controversies in 2005. He left his partner Ben Crane to the next tee because Ben was slow. Also, in 2007, Rory was on the news again for not winning the Wachovia Championship after leading by one stroke. In the same year, when a fan asked him about Tiger Woods, he asked security to remove the fan.

Furthermore, in 2007, he withdrew from the Target World Challenge because its host was Tiger Woods. That was not the end of his controversies in 2011 he shouted at a volunteer who helped him locate his ball and got into an argument with Sean O’Hair during the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods

Tiger Woods has been making controversies for both right and wrong reasons. He has had a blistering career but was later marred with a lot of discussions. However, even if he has had downfalls on his career. Woods has been able to discover his golfing career, and 2019 has been one of his best years.

Eldrick Tont has one hundred and nine professional wins. He became a pro golf player in 1996. To add to that, he has several awards on his name. In this context, all that is not appropriate. 2019 being his best year for a while, Tiger woods has won the Masters Tournament and was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump.

Patrick Nathaniel Reed

Also known as Captain America, Patrick Reed has been on the news because of controversies. It is not the first time Reed is on the headlines because of disputes. However, this time, he made the headlines for winning a tournament since the 2018 Masters Tournament. Patrick also moved from being number fifty to number two in the FedEx Cup Standings.

Additionally, Reed won in New York and at the Liberty National once again. During his latest victory at Northern Trust, Reed’s win was overshadowed with controversy as the pace of play was questioned. During that tournament, Reed slammed the door after the fifty-fourth hole.
