The benches cleared in New York on Friday night after Mets reliever Drew Gagnon drilled Rockies infielder Ian Desmond with a pitch.

The hit batter came out of frustration after Colorado hit two home runs in the inning to add three runs to extend their lead to 5-1.

The two teams “discussed” the incident briefly on the field and there were no punches thrown or players ejected.

Incidents like this one are how rivalries are born.  This might just be the start of one between the Rockies and the Mets.

Hopefully we get a little more action from the next hit batter.
