During the tight end episode of the NFL 100 All-Time Team, Bill Belichick told a funny story about Rob Gronkowski’s pre-draft meeting with the Patriots. He revealed that the retired tight end great didn’t make the best of impressions on New England.
Belichick says they left Gronk in a room by himself and when they returned he was asleep on the floor.

It wasn’t enough for them to not draft him. In fact they ended up trading up in order to draft the future Hall of Famer.
