Brett Favre released a statement on the multimillion-dollar welfare fraud case that he got caught up in.  The former Packers quarterback will will return the $1.1 million in Mississippi state welfare money he received for speaking engagements he never did.

The state auditor, Shad White, announced on Wednesday that Favre has already refunded $500,000 and will repay the remaining $600,000 over the next few months.  He added that Favre is not facing any criminal charges.

White’s statement also applauded Favre for agreeing to repay the money, “to applaud Mr. Favre for his good faith effort to make this right and make the taxpayers and TANF families whole.”
