Panthers quarterback Cam Newton left Thursday night’s game against the Patriots at the end of the first quarter with an injured left foot.  It was his first game action since last season, which also ended with an injury.

Newton went into the locker room to be evaluated and never returned to the field.  After the game he was seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot.  Early reports are a sprained left foot.

Newton is expected to undergo further evaluation on Friday.
