Vancouver Canucks defenseman Troy Stecher left Saturday’s loss to the Calgary Flames after taking a shot from close range to the face.

Stecher laid out to block an Elias Lindholm’s shot and unfortunately ended up with a face full of puck from extremely close range.

Stecher held his face and made his way off the ice.  We assume a puck to the face from close range leaves a little more than a scratch.

This is another example of why hockey players are some of the toughest guys on the planet.  Hopefully he escaped any major injuries and is able to return to the lineup.
