Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo says he offered to split his $12 million 2019 salary with both Manny Machado and Bryce Harper.
Unfortunately for the Cubs both free agents turned Rizzo down.
Via Chicago Tribune:
“So this is what happened,” Rizzo said. “I offered him half of my 12 (million) that I’m making this year. But he turned it down. Put that report out.”
“Both,” he said. “Three (million each). I split it in half.”
Obviously Rizzo was making light of the crazy free agency and the lower than expected offers both stars have been receiving.
Rizzo’s entire salary isn’t enough to get these two out of bed.
