This week, the now-retired slugger appeared on the Pardon My Take podcast to discuss his Red Sox career and a bit of his retirement.

Ortiz, who says he hasn’t picked up a bat since retiring in 2016, had some thoughts to share on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who he called “the magician” and “the G.O.A.T.”

From Pardon My Take:

“My wife always wants to talk about Tom Brady’s diet and she wants to get me on it. She always wants to talk about it. I’m like, ‘Beautiful, I’m gotta eat everything you put in front of me, so let’s not even go there. I’m gonna crush it.’ I was born one day and I know i’m gonna die another, so I’m gonna enjoy life.’

“… You’re gonna tell me my boy Brady, he’s not suffering because of the diet?

So if he’s not adopting the TB12 method, what does Ortiz normally like to eat?

“I crush seafood,” he said when asked about his favorite food.

Big Poppy gets life, he wants to enjoy himself, and he’s certainly earned the right to. If he was skinny would he really be Big Poppy anymore? Nope.
