Mariano Rivera became the first unanimous Hall of Fame inductee in history.  He’s also the first of the Yankees “Core Four” to be selected.

Rivera’s former teammate and captain Derek Jeter congratulated him on his website, The Players’ Tribune:

I had the best seat in the house to watch the greatest closer of all time.

Hall of Fame teammate. Hall of Fame person.

And now, officially, a Hall of Fame player.

Congratulations, Mariano, and the rest of this year’s class.

Jeter will certainly be joining his teammate in the hall next season as a first ballot inductee.  Who said there were too many Yankees in the Hall of Fame?
