Penguins center Derick Brassard was hit with a game misconduct for delivering a vicious shot to the back of Devils defenseman Sami Vatanen’s head.
The hit bounced Vatanen’s face off of the glass and sent him to the locker room for medical attention.
There’s hitting someone and then there’s hitting someone with bad intentions. Brassard had bad intentions on this hit.
His target was close to the glass and not looking when he threw his elbow and shoulder into the back of Vatanen’s head. The only result from this hit was going to be some sort of injury.
The Devils would deliver the only hit that really mattered in the form of a 6-3 win over the Penguins.
