DeVonta Smith is not here for your fantasy team. 

If you’re a fantasy football manager, drafting the Eagles wideout as a potential top-two wide receiver seemed like a pretty good idea at the start of the season. Devonta Smith was coming off a really solid rookie campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles, even as quarterback Jalen Hurts struggled with accuracy, and the team added A.J. Brown as a complimentary weapon in the offense. With improved play from Hurts, it was reasonable to expect a leap in his standing as the 30th best fantasy wideout.

But even as the QB play has drastically improved, DeVonta’s Smith’s fantasy numbers haven’t. And he’s apparently been hearing about it. So Smith took a minute after Thursday night’s win over the Houston Texans to address it.

And you can’t blame him for reacting to what can only be an onslaught of fantasy criticism.  He doesn’t care about your fantasy team, as if there was ever a chance he did. Things are really good for DeVonta Smith and the Eagles. They’re an NFL-best 8-0 and they hold the best Super Bowl odds of any NFC team. 

After catching two passes for 22 yards on Thursday, Smith has 442 yards and two touchdowns on the season. That makes him the 35th-ranked fantasy receiver, according to FantasyPros, which actually matches where he was being drafted.  

Though DeVonta Smith has gotten the second-most targets on the Eagles, his production trails both Brown and tight end Dallas Goedert, who each rank in the top 10 at their positions in fantasy.
