Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Alex Avila has been placed on the injured list with a strained left quadriceps.  He hurt himself rounding the bases after hitting a home run off of Red Sox infielder Eduardo Nunez.

Via ESPN:

“He was gearing up to get to second base, and when he saw it went over the fence he kind of geared down and felt it grab,” manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday. “We don’t think it is going to be anything that is too lengthy.”

Here’s a look at Avila taking Nunez deep during the blowout and pulling up lame as he rounded first base.

Avila isn’t expected to miss an extended amount of time with the injury, but he might want to take a few extra days to work on his home run trot.  We would hate to see him tweak something the next time he goes deep.
