Legendary Chicago Bears badass, Dick Butkus, became the second player honored by Illinois with a statue outside Memorial Stadium.

Butkus, who ranked behind only Walter Payton in the Tribune’s ranking of the Bears’ top 100 players ever, joined Red Grange as the only players with a statue outside the field where Butkus played linebacker for the Illini from 1962 to 1964.

The Bears drafted him with the No. 3 pick in the 1965 draft, and he played nine seasons as one of the most feared players in NFL history.

He was pretty honest at his presser, and had a lot of bleeps as a result.
