How Did Djibril Cissé Become Betiton’s™ Inhouse Football Expert?

So, you might be sitting there wondering to yourself just how it was that Betiton™’s and Djibril Cissé’s partnership came into being. If so, then read on and you will find out why it was that Betiton™ decided that Cissé was the perfect man to be their new brand ambassador. Arnaud Serour, who is one of the founders of Betiton™, decided to get in touch with Cissé because they were looking for a player, whether it was a current or former one, who would help them to stick out like a sore thumb, which is what any company has to do in the fierce iGaming world if they want to go on and have plenty of success.

Cissé, it is fair to say, knows plenty about standing out as when he was playing at the top of his game, you could not help but spot him on the field – not just because he was terrorising defenders, but also because he loved to have some eye-catching hair styles and he was even known to dye his beard on occasions. As well as looking for a player who would help them to stand out, they also really wanted to work with someone who has a lot of character and a determination to succeed, and Cissé definitely fits this bill.

So, Serour decided to get in touch with Cissé and ask him if he would be interested in teaming up with Betiton™ and being their brand ambassador, and after finding out a bit more about the company, he was on board. He agreed to their offer because he quickly realised that the owners of Betiton™ have plenty in common with him, in that they are also really determined to succeed in everything they do. Moreover, it equally helped that Arnaud and Djibril happen to both be from the same region of France and support the same team: Olympique de Marseille!

The Meaning of Tenacity: Djibril Cissé’s Football Career

Before the 2002 FIFA World Cup, not many football fans knew an awful lot about Cissé, despite the fact that he had been scoring goals for fun in Ligue 1 for AJ Auxerre. Cissé was one of the forwards that was named in the squad, and he went on to make three group game appearances for Les Blues. He did not start any of the matches because France had Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet playing for them at the time. Despite playing just an hour of football, Cissé impressed those watching with his pace, physique, and dribbling skills. Unfortunately, France was dumped out during the group stage, but this was no reflection on the performances of a young Cissé. He would go on to make 41 appearances for France and score nine goals.

Having signed for Liverpool for £14 million in 2004, Cissé suffered a horrific leg break while trying to make a tackle in a match against Blackburn. Despite many doctors declaring that he could be out for as long as 18 months, the Frenchman was able to make an astonishingly quick recovery and was back playing about six months or so later. He made his first appearance after his injury in a Champions League clash with Juventus in April 2005, showing his mental fortitude and strength. Liverpool made it to the final in Istanbul where they took on AC Milan, and things looked bleak at half-time as they were 3-0 down. However, Liverpool amounted a monster comeback, and Cissé came on in the 85th minute. The game went to penalties, and Cissé dispatched his pen to help his side win the shootout and lift the trophy.

There was more success for Cissé in the following campaign, as Liverpool won the European Super Cup as well as the FA Cup. During the European Super Cup against CSKA Moscow, Cissé scored the equaliser to take the game to Extra-Time and then he scored again to give his team the win. Then, in the FA Cup final at the end of the season, Liverpool were two down against West Ham when Cissé struck a sweet volley to give his team hope. The match finished 3-3 after 90 minutes, and Liverpool won 3-1 on penalties.

So, some might say that Cissé never lived up to his full potential as a footballer but, in our opinion, he has still had a footballing career that he can be proud of. After all, there are plenty of great footballers out there who have never laid hands on the Champions League trophy, and this is something that can never be taken away from him.
