The Eagles are expected to franchise tag and trade backup quarterback Nick Foles.  Reports are that it’s not just so they can get something in return for the Super Bowl champ.

The tag and trade would be to control where he ends up.  According to reports, the Eagles are afraid Foles could end up with the Giants if he hits the market as a free agent.

Via FanSided:

According to two NFL sources, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman is considering that idea after an exchange of moves that could potentially leave Foles as the top free agent quarterback on the market next month.

The Eagles believe there’s a strong chance the Giants will part ways with Manning and attempt to sign Foles if Foles hits the market.

Fearing Foles on a divisional rival like the Giants with weapons like Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley is a valid fear.  Imagine facing Foles and the Giants twice a year.

That could prove to be a real problem.  If it were to happen, the Eagles might find themselves looking up at both the Cowboys and Giants.
