Free agent Hanley Ramirez has reportedly agreed to sign a Minor League deal with the Cleveland Indains.  Ken Rosenthal reports the deal is pending a physical.

The 35-year-old hasn’t played since he was designated for assignment at the end of May last season by the Boston Red Sox.  His free agency was almost immediately sidetracked when in late June there were reports Hanley was linked to a federal drug investigation.

It turned out a friend of Ramirez’s was arrested in the case and tried to use Hanley’s name as a way to clear his own.  It didn’t work, but it could have helped in keeping teams from signing him.

Crank up the Hanley Ramirez’s helmet watch parties on Twitter.  He’s back and he’s going to swing himself out of his helmet all spring.
