The Cavaliers waived J.R. Smith on Monday after failing to find a willing trade partner for the veteran guard. Rumors have linked him recently to the Lakers and a reunion with his former teammate, LeBron James.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported shortly after the news of Smith’s release, that the Lakers are “an unlikely destination.”
