The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook set James Harden’s over/under for points for Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors at 42.5, marking the highest line the casino has ever posted for a point total.
“It’s a reaction to what we’re seeing through the betting window. If Harden goes on a string of games where he hits 50 a few times in a row, we may have to increase it more because in the low 40s, we’re not going to get much under money on it,” said Jeff Sherman, the vice president of risk management at the SuperBook.
Harden scored 35 points for his 22nd straight game with 30 or more and the Rockets never trailed and held off a late charge in the victory.
#JamesHarden (35 PTS on Friday) has been the outright leading scorer (for both teams) in each of his last 22 games. That's the third-longest streak of its kind in @NBAHistory, behind Wilt Chamberlain (40 straight games in 1962) and Bob McAdoo (28 games in 1975). @EliasSports pic.twitter.com/F34Uh1RtU2

After averaging 52.2 points over the last five games, capped by a franchise-record 61 in Wednesday’s win over the Knicks, Harden’s torrid scoring pace slowed a bit as all of Houston’s starters scored 10 points or more.
Harden is also a -500 favorite for MVP, with Giannis Antetokounmpo second-best at +350.
