President Trump announced on Tuesday morning that he was pardoning former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr.  While the details of the pardon weren’t immediately known, the pardon is believed to be for his bribery case involving former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards.

Back in 1998 DeBartolo Jr. pled guilty to a charge of failing to report a felony.  He received a $1 million fine and two years of probation.  The case cost him his ownership stake in the 49ers and in 2000 he handed over control of the franchise to his sister, Denise York.
