It was rumored shorty after the position became available, that the New York Jets were interested in hiring former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning as their new General Manager.
According to Manning, if they were initially interested in hiring him, they never reached out and he isn’t sure he’s qualified.
“Nobody ever contacted me … And I’m not sure I was qualified anyway.”
I’m not convinced that the Jets didn’t want to hire Manning. The strong reaction from the internet and social media is likely what caused them to not reach out.
The Jets looked ridiculous when their interest came out and they didn’t want to look even more ridiculous when Manning turned the invite down.
