The Jets announced on Saturday that they have released Pro Bowl left guard Kelechi Osemele. The news came after he underwent surgery on Friday against the team’s wishes.
The Jets and Osemele were at odds on whether or not he could continue to play with the shoulder injury prior to Friday’s surgery or if he could have it when the season ended.
After it was revealed that the damage to his shoulder was more extensive than anticipated, Osemele’s agent said earlier in the day that he and the NFLPA are considering taking action against the Jets team doctor.
