The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that they have released former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel.  According to the the team, Manziel somehow violated his contract.

Via MontrealAlouettes.com:

“We are disappointed by this turn of events. Johnny was provided a great deal of support by our organization, in collaboration with the CFL, but he has been unable to abide by the terms of his agreement,” said General Manager Kavis Reed. “We worked with the league and presented alternatives to Johnny, who was unwilling to proceed.”

“We are confident going into the 2019 training camp with a roster of quarterbacks that had played in our system last year and are committed to our team,” added Reed.

The CFL has informed all of its member clubs that it will not register a contract for Manziel should any club attempt to sign him.

Is this the end of Johnny Football?  Has Comeback SZN come to a sad, uneventful end?  Or is he preparing to join another CFL team?  Maybe the AAF or the XFL?

We’ll have to wait for the former Heisman Trophy winner to announce his next move.  Get ready for Comeback SZN 2.0.
