The Toronto Raptors superstar has long been a man of few words, preferring to let his game do the talking.

Thanks to a recent article, we have proof that Kawhi has in fact talked some junk at some point in his life. It’s just a little bit…different from how others guy do it.

From Jenks’ story, which interviewed several former teammates, coaches and managers who interacted with Leonard during his two sensational seasons at San Diego State:

Just imagine Kawhi rebounding for himself in a gym yelling “bucket” and “board man gets paid.”

Now we have some insight into what that exactly means.

“I used to say that back when I was in high school and college. You know, just wanting to get to this league,” Leonard said. “It’s about working hard, basically, outworking the opponent. Rebounds help you win games. Big rebounds, offensive rebounds, limiting the team to one shot and that used to be our motto.”

Looks like the Board Man did get paid.

Hard work on the boards always pays off.
