The Toronto Blue Jays traded centerfielder Kevin Pillar to the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.  In return for one of the game’s top defensive outfielders they picked up infielder Alen Hanson and right-handed pitchers Derek Law and Juan De Paula.

Five games into a season is an odd time to trade away one of your best players.  The move caught Pillar off guard and he was a little emotional when talking with the media after the deal was announced.

It might be hard now, but he’s finally out of Toronto and that’s a good thing.  It won’t take Pilllar long to realize how much better it is to play in a real baseball city.  Not to mention the fact that he’ll get to play a ton of games in the California sunshine.

Nobody wants to hang around on a team that is in full rebuild mode, especially in a city that isn’t ride or die for their team.
