Kobe invited local schools to attend the event to celebrate the release of his new Young Adult novel, The Wizenard Series: Training Camp, which is about five young basketball players, one enlightening coach and the awesome transformative power of the game.

Special guest and Hall of Famer Tiny Archibald shared his wisdom about life, sports and education to the group of young athletes.

This Is Us actress Phylicia Rashad also visited to describe what it was like to narrate the audio book and gave the audience a preview of this experience by reading an excerpt from the book.

The book reading and moderated conversation was followed by a Q&A session with the school children, who also left with personal photographs and signed copies of The Wizenard Series.

Kobe is loving retirement.
