Management for the Los Angeles Lakers will continue to project support for Luke Walton both publicly and privately at least through the end of this season, according to multiple sources.

The Lakers have struggled since LeBron James has been out with a groin injury.

According to one insider of the Lakers, the team hired Walton because they believed in his potential the way they did their lottery picks.

The belief in Walton remains strong despite a new regime being in place in the front office.

Despite Los Angeles’ immense struggles without James, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss remains in Walton’s corner and wants to keep him around, according to the New York Times.

The paper reported Buss would “almost certainly” prevent any attempt that team president Magic Johnson or general manager Rob Pelinka made to try to get rid of the struggling coach.

Sounds like he’ll be gone after this season.
