LeBron James became the first player in NBA history to reach 43,000 career regular-season points.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar hit the milestone on a layup midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s 111-89 defeat to the Boston Celtics.
Rank Player Total Points
1 LeBron James 43008
2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 38387
3 Karl Malone 36928
4 Kobe Bryant 33643
5 Michael Jordan 32292
James accomplished the feat in his 1600th regular-season game. He needs just 12 more appearances to surpass Robert Parish for the all-time NBA record.
James finished Sunday’s contest with 20 points, five assists, four boards, two steals, and one block in 34 minutes of action.
James earned his 22nd All-Star nod earlier this month. The 41-year-old entered Sunday’s play averaging 21.7 points, 7.2 assists, 5.7 boards, and 1.1 steals across 37 appearances this season.
However, James’ 21-year All-NBA streak will come to an end this season as he’ll fall short of the 65-game threshold required for eligibility.
