Padres third baseman Manny Machado flashed some leather on Saturday in San Diego. The $300 million man chased down a soft popup in foul territory and made a diving catch to end the inning.
Unlike Bryce Harper, Machado is an above average fielder with one of the strongest arms you’ll see at third base. He also has the range of a shortstop and showed that range off making this diving catch.
The Padres would end up losing the game to the Giants, 3-2. It was San Diego’s first loss of the season after opening with two wins. There’s a long way to go, but the Manny Machado era is off to a decent start.
