Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis, who is currently recovering from an ACL injury, met with the team on Thursday afternoon and informed them he wanted to be traded.  The 23-year-old All-Star is reportedly unhappy with the team’s dysfunction and informed the team that he would he would not be returning once he hit free agency.

In a meeting with New York Knicks management Thursday, All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis left franchise officials with the impression that he wants to be traded, league sources told ESPN.

Knicks president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry are expected to fully explore trade options for Porzingis ahead of next Thursday’s trade deadline, league sources told ESPN. Because Porzingis can be a restricted free agent this summer, teams pursuing him will need to know that he’s willing to make a long-term commitment to them.

Shortly after that news hit, the Dallas Mavericks struck a deal with the Knicks.  The trade, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, involves a total of six players.  New York will send Dallas Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr., in exchange for Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan.

Talk about things moving quickly.  Can you imagine the things Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are going to be able to do in Dallas?

No wonder the Mavs jumped all over this.
