Mavericks Will Not Pursue Jimmy Butler Because They Fear He Would Stunt Luka Doncic’s Growth

The Dallas Mavericks are expected to aggressively attempt to add another star player to go with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis.  But that star isn’t going to be Jimmy Butler.

According to 247Sports, despite the fact that Butler has been previously linked to the Mavs, they aren’t expected to pursue him.  The fear is that Butler would stunt Doncic’s growth.

Butler seemed to keep it together and not have any issues with his 76ers teammates during his time in Philly.  But there are plenty of prior incidents while he was with the Bulls and Timberwolves that are concerning enough to avoid him.

The Mavs probably aren’t the only team with young talent that has concerns about signing Butler, even though he’s a legit NBA star.
