Nowadays, load management is commonplace in the NBA, so much so that it has become a hot-button issue, with the Clippers getting fined $50,000 last week for “statements, including by head coach Doc Rivers, that were inconsistent with” Kawhi Leonard’s health status.

Leonard, the previous night, was held out of a nationally televised game against Milwaukee, a potential NBA finals preview.

Before his Mavericks played against Boston on Monday night at TD Garden, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban called load management “the best thing that ever happened to the league.”
