New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is frustrated with his recent struggles at the plate.

Alonso has just five hits in 34 at-bats in July and has only hit two home runs since June 25.

“It stinks, for sure,” Alonso said Saturday, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post. “Especially when you have a good at-bat, you capitalize on a pitch.”

Alonso is hitting .210 with an .800 OPS, which would be the lowest mark in both categories in his five-year career.

“As a hitter, you just wish you could have a magic wand and make the ball find grass or a seat,” Alonso said. “But it doesn’t work that way.”

The Mets will look to avoid a fifth straight loss and three-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers when the two teams conclude their series Sunday afternoon at Citi Field.
