New York Mets superstar Juan Soto left Friday’s game against the San Francisco Giants in the bottom of the first inning with right calf tightness.
Soto appeared to grimace while rounding second base in the top of the first. He briefly remained in the game and ran home on the next play, but was then replaced in left field by Tyrone Taylor to start the bottom half.
The Mets did not provide any further updates on his status beyond the diagnosis.
Soto has been a very durable player over his career. His most recent stint on the injured list was in May 2021, when he was still with the Washington Nationals. Soto’s played at least 150 games in each of his six full seasons, missing the mark only during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign and his rookie year of 2018 because he was called up in mid-May.
The 27-year-old has been off to a flying start in 2026, hitting .355/.412/.516 with one homer and five RBIs over 34 plate appearances.
