Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer struck out his 300th hitter of the season on Tuesday night in front of the home crowd in Washington.

It’s the first time Scherzer has reached that mark in his career and only the third time any pitcher has reached 300 strikeouts in the last 15 years.

The strikeout came in the 7th inning of the Nationals meaningless 9-4 win over the Marlins.

Individual accomplishments are all Nationals fans have to cheer for, but they’re used to that.  The team is constantly failing to meet expectations as a team.
