The NBA has fined Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas $40,000 for the use of “derogatory and disparaging language” in an interview following Thursday’s 116-106 win over the Chicago Bulls, the league announced Friday.

Speaking with TNT reporter Jared Greenberg alongside new teammate Spencer Dinwiddie, Thomas was asked about a comment Dinwiddie made at his introductory press conference with the Nets; Dinwiddie had joked that he and fellow newcomer Dorian Finney-Smith were the “best looking” trade package and would help the club in that regard.

Referring to Dinwiddie’s tongue-in-cheek remark, Thomas said the Nets “already had good-looking dudes, no homo.”

Greenberg responded: “I’m sure the league office will enjoy that one.”

Thomas, 21, quickly took to social media after the interview to apologize for the comment.
