Redskins quarterback Alex Smith, who was carted off the field on Sunday after breaking his lower leg, had successful surgery to repair the broken bones. According to Ian Rapoport, the injury is not considered to be career threatening.
That was not the case when former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann suffered an eerily similar injury 33-years ago to the day that Smith suffered his.
A picture of the moment Smith's leg snapped has been making the rounds as well and as you would expect, it is hard to look at.
Let's hope Smith's outcome is better than Theismann's was 33-years ago.
