The Capitals beat the Canadiens 5-4 in overtime on Monday night, but they didn’t leave without taking an L.  Montreal’s Maxi Domi sent Washington’s Dmirty Orlov to the locker room for stitches after landing repeated uppercuts.

There’s nothing like a hockey fight that ends with one or both of the players needing stitches.  That’s a good way to tell whether or not the punches landed solid.

We know there are plenty of soft sports writers calling for the end of fighting in the NHL, but this fight is a great example of why the game is better with fighting.
