A New Jersey court dropped domestic violence charges against Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera after his girlfriend refused to press charges.

The charges were from an incident that occurred at an Atlantic City hotel over the Memorial Day weekend.

Herrera is on paid administrative leave through Friday, but still could face additional discipline from Major League Baseball.

Via NBC Sports Philadelphia:

Domestic violence charges against Odubel Herrera were dropped by a New Jersey court on Wednesday, but the Phillies outfielder could still face discipline from Major League Baseball.

Herrera remains on paid administrative leave through Friday.

So, what’s next?

It’s possible that MLB could extend the leave as it continues its own ongoing investigation of the matter.

Expect the MLB to handout some sort of punishment to Herrera.  They’re conducting their own investigation into the matter and don’t need any charges to issue a suspension.
