The Packers selected Utah State QB Jordan Love in the first round of the NFL Draft.

“I hope he can play until he decides he doesn’t want to play anymore,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said on a conference call after the NFL Draft.

General manager Brian Gutekunst echoed similar sentiments: “We have one of the best quarterbacks to ever lace them up. We’re shooting for championships for as long as he’s here.”

With those comments, it doesn’t make much sense as to why the Packers took quarterback Jordan Love with their first round pick.

But could it have been just a power play?
