The New England Patriots have waived quarterback Bailey Zappe, the team announced.

Zappe, a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was expected to be New England’s primary backup behind Mac Jones.

The 24-year-old has appeared in four career games, including two starts. He’s completed 70.1% of his passes for 781 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The Patriots also released Malik Cunningham. The undrafted quarterback out of Louisville also played snaps at wide receiver during the preseason.

Jones is the only quarterback remaining on New England’s roster. The team can make waiver claims on Wednesday for players who were released as part of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline.
