The New Orleans Pelicans plan to grant Anthony Davis his request for a trade.  David Griffin, the vp of basketball operations for the Pelicans, has started to provide potential trade partners with the framework for a deal.

From the looks of it, it’s going to quite the package to land the unibrowed star.  According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pelicans are asking for an All-Star player, a player with All-Star potential and multiple draft picks.

Griffin is pursuing a combination of assets that include an All-Star player, a young player with All-Star potential and two first-round picks, league sources said. Those wants are on a sliding scale. For example, the better the player, the softer the asks on the draft picks — and vice versa.

That’s certainly a starting place in trade talks, but there remains uncertainty on how many assets teams will be willing to move for Davis, who could leave as a free agent next July.

If the Lakers hope to land Davis, they’re going to need some help.  They aren’t alone, most teams don’t have all of the pieces New Orleans is asking for.
