A puppy rescued from abusive conditions at a Mississippi county fair has a new home with the former Colts quarterback and his family.

Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi posted on Facebook Wednesday the two-pound puppy was being kept in a garbage bag and alternately tied up with a rope around her neck when she was found with a carnival worker at the Neshoba County Fair. The dog also was covered in fleas and infected with internal parasites, the rescue said.

A veterinarian was able to clean the dog up, got her on a better diet and put her into foster care with a member of the rescue’s board.

This week whilst at the Neshoba County Fair on vacation, we rescued a tiny, two pound puppy, from one of the carnival workers. The puppy was being alternatively kept in a garbage bag or tied with a rope around her neck (two tight), covered in fleas and infected with intestinal parasites . We got her vetted by Dr. Hicks, cleaned up, fleas removed, fed quality food as opposed to who knows what all, and safe in foster with one of our board members.

There she was loved and doted on by all, met many friends and neighbors, including Peyton Manning’s family.

ADOPTED. She is now a Manning and will live life large with this superstar family.

Later, the rescue updated the post to say the dog, reportedly named “Sunshine” was adopted by the Mannings and “will live life large with this superstar family.”

People reported the rescue group thought the Mannings planned to name the puppy “Livvy,” because “Omaha” would just be too obvious.
