The Philadelphia Phillies spent five hours on Saturday in Las Vegas meeting with Bryce Harper.  According to USA Today Sports, they’re now considered the frontrunner to sign the free agent outfielder.

The Philadelphia Phillies, and not the Washington Nationals, have emerged as the clear-cut favorite to sign free-agent outfielder Bryce Harper after meeting with him for five hours Saturday in Las Vegas, three officials told USA TODAY Sports.

The Phillies are determined to sign either Harper or the other top free agent Manny Machado.  They want to add a big star to their young and very talented roster to help push them to the top of the National League.

The two sides are reportedly still negotiating and a deal hasn’t yet been reached.  The numbers are sure to be ridiculous.
