During the Panthers and Blues game on Tuesday night, Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo tried to dump the puck into the zone.  It ended up hitting the referee in the junk and then going into the goal.

The goal was waved off after initially counting, because the puck can’t go directly into the net after hitting a referee.

The referee, Tim Peel, understandably had to leave the ice to get looked at after the play.

I hope he took that extra step while getting ready to put on some protection downstairs.  Otherwise it was probably a night of frozen peas for Mr. Peel.
