A classic shootout could be on the horizon.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu are planning to face off in a 3-point competition during NBA All-Star Weekend later in February, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Ionescu commented on the potential challenge on social media after Curry eluded to the possibility before Thursday’s contest against the Sacramento Kings.

Ionescu made history after recording 37 points out of a possible 40 in the final round of the WNBA 3-point contest, leading to her first win in the competition. Curry brought up the possibility of competing against the two-time All-Star after she won it in July 2023.

The Warriors star has won the NBA’s version of the contest twice, once in 2015 and again in 2021. He holds the record for most points in a single round, with 31 in the latter competition.

Both players are premier shooters: The Liberty guard shot 45% from deep last season, and Curry holds the NBA’s all-time record in career 3-pointers.
